Create Better Family Communication with a Simple Chalkboard

They know what they say, "the kitchen is the heart of the home."

This is certainly true in our home.

Mom Joke

The kitchen is where we cook, talk, and enjoy a delicious meal together at the end of the day for collection.

We also have an important "tool" in our kitchen, there are no real "heart".

But this tool has nothing to do with the kitchen and everything to do with communication.

There is a small plaque hangs on the wall near the stove.

We call the familyMessage Center.

And 'where we leave all kinds of news from each other.

For example, if I am going to leave the house before my husband comes home from work at night, and I want to let him know where I am, instead of reaching the phone and left a voice message, bin, I grab chalk and scribble on the A message on the board.

Something like:

Went to meet my writer's block. See you at 8:00!

XXXOOO

We also want to use the whiteboardthe other a happy birthday wish everyone a Merry Christmas (we count the days and use it as our own advent calendar), to share important quotations we read that we think are worth sharing, they have, and even after one word for the day and a definition.

But the news that I like most is to see the unexpected in our bulletin board.

As with our adult son Tyler falls for a meal, and then I see on the table and see that he wrote,

Great dinner, Mom! We loved the game of chess Game, Dad. Thank you!

Or is our son, Nick sketch of a cartoon character, along with a stupid joke.

My husband likes to write things in the "code" we need to understand what he's trying to tell us.

Not that its code is all that the average person can not decipher immediately.

Posts silly but catchy as - URthe1Iwant2C2nite.

I use the post card statements - even though my children known to affect these statements and put them in stupid>jokes.

But the point is, you can improve family communication with a simple chalkboard.

When you get in the habit of leaving messages - whether your message is a word for the day, a thank you, a happy birthday wish, or even an affirmation - everyone in the family suddenly has something to "say" and will usually write it down.

And you'll probably find your family talking about the messages during dinner some evenings, too.

So create better family communication.

Get a chalkboard.
And use it!
