Wedding Jokes and Stories - How to Deliver a Brilliant Speech

Telling wedding jokes and stories, are one of the best ways to give a wedding speech, laughter from your audience is a seal of approval, even after the funny mother in law jokes.

Husband and wife tales, and jokes about marriage itself, always go down well, especially those that have been married for a long time, they can really relate to all the cliches.

Mom Joke

for example, "the other week my wife had her credit card stolen, and as of yet I have not reported it to the police, because who ever stole it were spending less than she did"

Or how about this gem

"You know that marriage, and weddings are like a three ring circus, first of all there is the engagement ring, then the wedding ring, and then comes the suffering"

Or this

"A woman usually begins by resisting a man's advances, and then ends by blocking his retreat"

A good sprinkling of humour in your speech, keeps everyone interested and feeling good, a litle planning ahead of time will help you overcome nerves, it will also put the bride and groom at ease knowing that you have put a little thought and effort into it.

You always need to be careful when giving a wedding speech that you do not offend anyone, so avoid telling sex jokes, and never bring up past partners from either the bride and groom, you could end up in hot water and don't say I didn't tell you so.

Most people love it, when you take the mickey out of someone in your speech, but if you want to knock em dead, then take the mickey out of yourself, so people can laugh with you.

Again keep it clean, there could be young children at the reception dinner, or grandparents, and you just need to be aware of your surroundings.

In conclusion here are my 3 top tips for a wedding speech.

1) Don't try to wing it and be spontaneous, always have some notes to refer to for an outline of your speech, but do not write your speech out word for word, there is nothing worse than trying to read your speech, it sounds canned and will bore your audience to tears.

2) Have a good opening to get your guests attention, a good funny story or joke is the best way to achieve this.

3) Do not use bad language or profanity and keep it clean, you can be funny without offending, have structure to your speech, it should have a beginning a middle and an end, and finally to overcome nerves from speaking talk a little bit faster and louder than you normally would, trust me it helps.

Follow these simple suggestions, and people will be toasting you.
